Statement Of Faith
What we believe
-
I believe in one God, The Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not created, of one essence with the Father through Whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; And He rose on the third day, according to the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father; And He will come again with glory to judge the living and dead. His kingdom shall have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son, Who together with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke through the prophets.
In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come.
Amen.
-
We believe in One God who is the creator of everything visible and invisible, and is completely sovereign over His creation. He is perfect and holy. He is King and Redeemer. He is love and justice. He has revealed himself to be eternally self-existent as one being in three persons - God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit - who are co-existent with one another, but have distinct roles and personhood within the Godhead.
-
We believe all of the Bible, Old & New Testament, to be God’s infallible revelation to mankind about who He is and His plan of salvation for His world, ultimately revealed in Christ Jesus. We believe the Word of God to be our supreme authority on all matters of faith and conduct. We believe all of Scripture points us to Jesus the incarnate Word of God.
-
We believe in God the Father, Almighty. He is Creator and Redeemer. He uniquely defines our relationship with God as His children - adopted into sonship and part of His family. He has loved us with an everlasting love and knew us before the creation of the world. His will is perfect, is given to us for our ultimate pleasure and fulfilled in Jesus. Jesus is the complete representation of the Father to us and came in order that we could eternally be with the Father and know Him. Jesus showed us the way to the Father and how we now can intimately relate to Him - no longer as slaves but His children, enabled to cry out “Abba, Father”.
-
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God - eternally begotten of the Father. He is fully God and fully man, and the visible representation of the invisible God. Jesus Christ is the Word whom all things were created by and for and who became flesh making his dwelling among us, conceived by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary.
He lived a perfect life in submission to His Fathers will and humbled himself to be obedient to death on a cross, suffering under Pontius Pilate and rejected by men. He then rose on the third day appearing to His disciples and over 500 others, then ascended to the right hand of the Father in the heavenly realms reigning presently and eternally as Lord over all. He will soon return and judge the living and the dead.
Jesus is the only means of salvation for mankind and the only way to the Father - through faith in His death, burial, resurrection & ascension. Christ came into this world to save sinners by His blood spilled on the cross and inaugurate God’s Kingdom on earth.
-
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead. He is co-equal, co-eternal and co-existent with the Father and the Son. His ministry on the earth is to convict humanity of sin and our need for Jesus, regenerate us for salvation and adoption through new birth, empower us for a holy life, and administer to us spiritual gifts to serve the body of Christ and build up the Church into maturity. The Holy Spirit reveals Jesus to us in all that He does and brings communion with God and sanctification for the believer by His indwelling presence. We are called to be continuously filled with the Holy Spirit to serve and love Jesus and His people.
-
God was pleased to make mankind in His image in order to enjoy relationship with us forever with Him through a worshipful life. But Adam and Eve rebelled against God in the Garden of Eden which eternally broke our relationship with Him. Since then, mankind has been born of the seed of Adam in a natural disposition to rebel against God and live a self-serving life - tempted by the devil and according to the world's system. God promised redemption to the people He made throughout the narrative of Scripture, and ultimately has been made available to all mankind through Jesus. Only those who have faith in Christ are called into God’s everlasting Kingdom to enjoy everlasting life with Him.
-
We believe there is only one way humanity can be saved - through Jesus Christ. Salvation is given to us freely as a gift as God determines and received only by faith and repentance. By His wounds we are healed. Salvation is only possible by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit to convict us of sin and lead us to Jesus. As a result of our salvation in Christ we are compelled to live lives worthy of our calling in obedience to God’s perfect and pleasing will.
-
We believe Jesus is the firstborn among many, raised on the third day. Those who have fallen asleep in Christ too will rise from the dead on the last day and join together with those who are awake for His return and the great appearance before the Lord.
-
We believe Jesus is appointed by the Father as Judge over the living and the dead. All people from every generation, tribe and tongue will come before the Judgement seat of Christ. There will be two judgements; the first is to determine our eternal destination and if our names are written in the Lambs book of life- those who have trusted in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins will be granted access into God’s Kingdom and those who have not will be condemned to hell in eternal separation from God. Heaven and Hell are real places that will be occupied forever. The second judgement will be for the believer only and under the refining fire of Christ’s Word all of our words, thoughts and works will be tested and rewarded accordingly. Those which were built on Him will last, and those that weren’t will be burnt up.
-
We believe the Church to be the holy and sanctified bride of Christ who has been saved, redeemed and washed by the blood of Jesus for the purpose of loving Him. We are called to be His most precious and treasured possession and to go into all the earth to preach the gospel and make disciples unto Jesus glory. Jesus is the Chief Cornerstone and the foundation. He alone will build His Church, and we are to co-labour with Him.
